Here at Dermoperfection, we want everyone to feel confident in their own skin – and if hyperpigmentation is stopping that, we can help!
Hyperpigmentation is where patches of the skin become darker than the surrounding skin. This is caused by an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces skin colour, forming deposits in the skin.
One of the causes of hyperpigmentation is sun exposure, so if you’ve been on holiday or have just been enjoying the British summertime, you may have noticed these patches forming.
This isn’t the only cause however – this may also be down to genetics, changes in hormone levels (e.g. pregnancy) or due to medication. Hyperpigmentation is usually harmless, but we know that it can get you down.
Dermoperfection’s clinicians are experts in the different skin types and conditions, so here are a few of our recommendations for treating hyperpigmentation:
Microneedling – microneedling is one of the most versatile treatments at our medical skin clinic, so it’s no surprise that it can treat hyperpigmentation! We use the Mesoestetic m.pen, the best brand on the market for microneedling, and their depigmentation solution inhibits the production of melanin, whilst lightening and correcting existing pigmentation issues.
Dermamelan – we also offer Dermamelan at Dermoperfection, another top Mesoestetic treatment! This is a skin peel which utilises organic acids to suppress melanin and is perfect for moderate to severe hyperpigmentation.
INTRAcel Pro – this is one of our EXCLUSIVE treatments, that uses radiofrequency microneedling for a radically enhanced effect in resurfacing the skin, thus lifting residual hyperpigmentation.
Obagi Nu-Derm – our patients who suffer from hyperpigmentation LOVE Obagi Nu-Derm, as it is a medical grade skincare system that diminishes the appearance of age spots, dark spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation and discolouration. You can even choose between products more suited for dry or oily skin!
Within the Obagi Nu-Derm system, you’ll have daily essentials including a cleanser, toner and SPF.
These are just a few suggestions on how to effectively treat hyperpigmentation and bring back skin you love, but during your free consultation at Dermoperfection, we can discuss all your options!
