FAQs about ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU

ULTRAcel Q+ is one of the most in-demand treatments at Dermoperfection, Birmingham’s leading medical skin and cosmetic clinic, and we know many more of you will be considering a HIFU treatment, so we’ve put together the most frequently asked questions about HIFU!

What is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, which is a clinically proven, non-surgical face lifting and body contouring treatment. We offer ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU treatment, and we are the exclusive providers for it in the West Midlands!

How does HIFU work?

In an ULTRAcel Q+ treatment, the HIFU waves are beamed to a controlled targeted depth where thermal energy tightens and contracts underlying tissues, right down to the muscle layer where structural weakening starts. This is generally only improved by surgery.

What areas does ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU treat?

This treats wrinkles and tightens, lifts and contours the skin around the body. Some of the key areas targeted are the face, neck, arms, legs, stomach, back along with other areas that lose definition, tone and elasticity when collagen production naturally decreases.

Benefits of ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU include improved skin texture, refined pore size, skin lifting and tightening, body contouring, facial sculpting and targeting stubborn fat.

How long does it take?

This is dependent on how many areas are treated, but ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU only takes 3 minutes on the lower face, 8 minutes on the full face and 15 minutes on the body, making it an ideal lunchtime aesthetic treatment.

How quickly will I see results?

Your skin will feel smoother and tighter soon after the treatment, however the full effect will be seen around 12 weeks after treatment, with results then lasting up to 2 years!

How frequently will I need an ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU treatment?

To see optimum results, it is recommended to be treated every three months; typically you will need 2-3 treatments, although everyone’s response is different so some may only need one. This depends on factors such as degree of skin laxity and individual collagen building process.

Does ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU hurt?

You will feel a prickling sensation followed by a feeling of heat when the device is passed over the skin, however it’s only a mild discomfort. No anaesthetic is usually required, although you may want to take traditional pain relief to alleviate any discomfort.

As ULTRAcel Q+ HIFU is 3 times faster than other HIFU treatments, this makes it the least painful option!

Is this treatment safe?

Definitely! ULTRAcel Q+ is medically proven to be a safe treatment for the face and body. And as you are treated by a team of medical professionals at Dermoperfection, who tailor each treatment to you, you can guarantee that you’re in safe hands.

Are there any side effects?

You may feel a mild sunburn-like sensation in the first couple of days, however this is usually only slightly discomforting. Your skin may also be red for the first day, and sometimes mild bruising. You can discuss this during your consultation if you have any questions.

How should I look after my skin following treatment?

We recommend applying sunscreen daily following the treatment (SPF30), however this should already be part of your routine to ensure your skin is protected. We have a range of SPFs available at Dermoperfection from leading medical skincare brands including Obagi and PCA Skin – check them out here.

If you feel any discomfort, we recommend aloe vera gel or a cold compress.
